The slogan for a certain lager made in the Southern Hemisphere is “Foster’s—Australian for beer.” When you read, “The prevalence of doctor diagnosed asthma varied widely amongst the 70 participating countries, ranging from 0.2% in China to 21.0% in Australia,” you might think there should be a slogan, “Asthma—Australian for reversible obstructive airway disease.” With this information in hand, we salute a return appearance on our website by Dr. John Weiner of Melbourne, who has written several pieces for us, starting in 2012 with “Allergies in Central Australia? You’ve Got to be Joking!” which tells about his experience treating American soldiers serving in Alice Springs. John is a wonderful combination of serious medicine and good humor. Witness another post called “Testing the Hygiene Hypothesis: Celiac Disease? Take 15 Hookworms and call me in the morning.”
Thank you, John, and welcome back.
